Media of the Masses in LARB and on al-Daheeh

Andrew Simon's book is reviewed in the Los Angeles Review of Books and appears on al-Daheeh, a leading online show in the Middle East.

Earlier this week, an article in the Los Angeles Review of Books described "Media of the Masses," a new book by senior lecturer Andrew Simon, as "exhilarating" and "fascinating." You can find the full review here.

Additionally, Professor Simon's book was showcased by al-Daheeh, a leading online show in the Middle East, in an episode on the history of popular (sha'bi) music in Egypt and one of its pioneers, Ahmad Adawiya. The episode can be accessed here.

Andrew Simon is a historian of media, pop culture, and the modern Middle East. He was a fellow at the Center for Arabic Study Abroad in Cairo during the 2011 Egyptian Revolution and is the modern history book review editor for the International Journal of Middle East Studies.
